Alazani Valley in a “Blue Grape” Clay Bottle – Semi-Sweet Red Wine from the Alazani River Valley
The Alazani River rises in the Greater Caucasus and flows through the wide valley of Kakheti. Snow-capped peaks shelter it to the north and the Gombori ridge to the south – and between them lie Georgia’s largest vineyards. Kakheti produces most of the country’s wine; learn more in Georgian wine: making methods and history.
In Georgia, the name “Alazani Valley” stands for semi-sweet wines loved for their easy, pleasant sweetness – equally at home at a family celebration or an ordinary dinner.
Blue grapes on a clay bottle
The bottle features blue grape clusters – a motif found across Georgia on church reliefs, carpets and ceramics. The clay shields the wine from light and recalls the tradition of keeping wine in qvevri. A ready-made gift that becomes a decoration afterwards. Browse more gift wines.
