The KOSTAPHE wine from the JUSO winery is made to enjoy the moment, a taste you will never forget.
Juso’s wine comes from a small family-owned Georgia winery that specializes in artisanal natural Kvevri wines based on ancient Georgian traditions. The winery was only established in 2017, but the art of winemaking is deeply rooted in the family: back in Soviet times, Juso – the family’s grandfather and a well-known wine expert – planted the first vineyards in Kakheti and opened a wine factory. It closed a few years after the collapse of the Soviet Union and the family produced wine exclusively for their own use.
The Juso winery combines a cellar with 17 vats (18 tons), a tasting area and vineyards in Kakheti (Shilda village and Sagarejo district). The main pride of the winery is the 60-year-old vineyard planted by Juso Papa’s father and grandfather in the Kostafe area, located at the mouth of the Iori and Lochthekhevi rivers, in the Sagarejo district. Juso Kostafe wine consists of 4 grape varieties – Rkatsiteli (35%), Kisi (25%), Kakhuri Mtsvane (25%) and Buera (15%) – from a 60 year old vineyard. The winery produces about 8000-9000 bottles a year, 50% of which are exported.
The wines are made from organically grown grapes using the Georgian traditional winemaking method in Kvevri and are naturally filtered, crystal clear and rich in tannins; they impress with their distinctive bouquet and aroma.
