Nabeghlavi – mineral water from Georgia
The Nabeglavi spring was discovered in 1905 in western Georgia, in the Guria region. According to local legend, inhabitants noticed that buffaloes were drawn to one particular spring — the same spring that later turned out to have exceptional taste and beneficial properties. Industrial bottling began in 1958, when a spa resort was established around the spring. Today Nabeglavi is one of the best-selling mineral waters in Georgia, exported to more than 20 countries.
The water forms at a depth of 2,000 to 3,000 metres, where infiltrated waters weave through various rock layers, absorbing a unique combination of minerals and trace elements that define its characteristic taste. Nabeglavi is naturally sparkling — carbonation occurs directly in the aquifer by natural process.
One of its notable features is the high content of magnesium ions — significantly higher than in most mineral waters. It also contains calcium, sodium, potassium and chlorides. Total mineralisation is between 3.5 and 5.9 g/l, placing Nabeglavi among strongly mineralised waters. Best served well chilled. Excellent as a table water with meals or on its own throughout the day.
