Marani SAPERAVI – tasting trio of 3 bottles of a classic Georgian variety

Saperavi is one of Georgia’s most important grape varieties, whose name translates as “dyer” – its colour comes not just from the skin but from the flesh itself. The grapes are hand-picked at optimum ripeness and fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 23–28°C using selected yeast cultures, with délestage and remontage techniques used for better colour extraction. A small portion of the wine ages for three to four months in French oak barrels.

Tasting profile

• Colour: deep dark red.
• Nose: dominated by ripe dogwood and blackcurrant.
• Palate: juicy blackberry and ripe dogwood with a hint of prunes, a juicy, rounded finish with ripe tannins.

• Serve at 16–18°C with grilled and smoked meats.
• Pairs wonderfully with aged cheeses.
