The Askaneli Saperavi Qvevri from the limited Author’s Collection represents the ultimate tribute to Georgian winemaking. It brings together two legends: Saperavi, the king of Georgian red grape varieties, and the Qvevri, the clay vessel that gave wine to the world.

This wine is crafted using the traditional Kakhetian method, recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. After the harvest, the grapes are not simply pressed; instead, they go into large clay amphorae (Qvevri) buried deep in the ground, skins and seeds included. Here, in the cool embrace of the earth, spontaneous fermentation and aging take place.

The result is a wine with incredible depth and character, unlike anything produced in stainless steel tanks or oak barrels. It is a “wine of the earth”—powerful and untamed, yet possessing a refined elegance bestowed by the master winemaker’s hand within this premium range.

Tasting Profile

• Color: The appearance is dark and opaque, reminiscent of concentrated ruby with violet hues at the rim.

• Aroma: The nose is intense and multi-layered. You are immediately struck by aromas of ripe blackberries, prunes, and black cherries, which gradually open up into notes of leather, tobacco, and that specific earthiness typical of the Qvevri method.

• Palate: On the palate, the wine is monumental—full-bodied with bold yet ripe tannins. The fruit components are perfectly intertwined with spicy accents and a long, warming finish that lingers for minutes.

Serving Recommendations

Saperavi Qvevri is a “gastronomic heavyweight.” To allow its rich spectrum of flavors to fully unfold, we recommend opening the bottle at least one hour before serving, ideally decanting it to let it breathe.
